Thompson Elementary Hosts Hispanic Heritage Festival

Thompson Elementary Hosts Hispanic Heritage Festival

Thompson Elementary started a new tradition this year with their Hispanic Heritage Festival!  The event, planned by the school's PTA, was extremely successful!

Approximately 700 people attended the event, bringing current families, former students, and community members together along the back lawn of the school.  While families participated in activities like a bubble truck, inflatable obstacle course, and petting zoo provided by the PTA, students were just as thrilled to visit activities set up by their teachers like pinata making and lotería.  Families were encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to set up on the lawn picnic-style while they enjoyed food from local food trucks.

The night featured some amazing entertainment which added to the festive atmosphere.  DJ VIC had music going to keep the energy up, breaking for featured performances by Mariachi Arriago de America and the Matachines Dancers.

This event could not have been the success it was without the help of our volunteers! Over 90 parents and Creekview high school students spent a part of their time volunteering. Many thanks to all of you!

Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the students of Thompson Elementary. PTA will be voting to decide how to best use the proceeds at their next meeting, October 5, and invite any Thompson Families to join the organization and have input on where the money will go. Families may visit their website at www.thompsonpta.com to join and learn more about the organization. Meeting information is sent out before each meeting on Parent Square.
