Thompson Updates Arrival and Dismissal Plans Ahead of Traditional Student Return

Thompson staff have spent a great deal of time planning the return of the traditional learners to campus on September 8.

In order to follow COVID protocols, the campus made some changes to their arrival and dismissal. Most notably, families will no longer be able to park and walk students to the front door or walk up to the school to pick students up during afternoon dismissal.

Arrival:

Families will not be permitted to park and walk students to the door, instead all families arriving by car will need to drive through the front drive. Please remain in the car until your student's temperature has been taken and they are approved to enter the school.

If students are walking to school, they will need to walk independently to the campus.  Walkers will enter the building through the doors by the school gym. Temperatures will be checked by a staff member before being permitted to enter. If temperatures are too high, parents will be contacted to pick students up.

A small number of our students arrive each morning by bus or daycare. They will be dropped off in the back of the school.  Again, staff members will check temperatures as they exit. If a student is unable to stay for classes due to temperature, families will be contacted to pick the student up.

Dismissal:

Students will be picked up by parents in one of the two carpool lanes. K-2 students will be picked up in the front drive by the main entrance. 3-5 students will be picked up in the drive by the school gym.

Students walking home independently will exit out the back doors. A teacher will walk students to the crosswalk located on Scott Mill or to the back fence.

Like in the morning, busses and daycare vans will pick students up in the back drive.
