Why Enroll at Thompson

All of our teachers in CFBISD are certified in the core subject areas. All elementary teachers participated in Reading Academies and are trained in the Science of Teaching Reading. Teachers also receive specialized training in curriculum, reading strategies, differentiation, socio-emotional learning and much more.

At Thompson, our students are able to connect personally with their peers, but also virtually in our one to one learning environment. Each student is given an iPad in kinder and 1^st grade and a Chromebook in 2^nd through 5^th grade, in order to have the tools necessary to engage as a 21^st century learner. Students are lead through lessons on becoming a responsible digital citizen. Students also get the opportunity to learn coding skills through guided lessons and learning throughout their time here at Thompson.

In addition to becoming connected digitally, students at Thompson have the chance to connect with one another through multiple opportunities, including:

• Cougar Choir
• PE Club
• Art Club
• Makers Group
• Safety Patrol
• Book clubs
• Class buddies
• And so much more!

There are two ways to get in:

1. If you are a new student and live in the attendance zone, you can move forward by completing online registration and follow the steps for online enrollment.
   
   Students may enroll for the current school year or can begin online registration for the new school year on April 1. 
    
2. If you do not live in the attendance zone, you can apply now.

Membership in PTA is open to anyone who supports the PTA mission and wants to be involved in making a difference for the education, health and welfare of children. Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

Supporting Thompson’s PTA enables us to provide our students and staff with the ability to participate in school enrichment programs, school functions, school upgrades, cultural days, and special events.

Thompson Elementary has received a number of campus, faculty, and student recognitions. The 2019 Texas Academic Performance Report lists distinction designations for Thompson for being in the top 25% of comparative academic growth. Thompson has also received numerous awards for our excellent PTA. Our students received numerous medals at the 2020 District Academic Olympiad, including 1^st place in the STEM group challenge. We continue to strive for EXCELLENCE in all that we do and will continue to collect future accolades with our EXCELLENT Thompson cougars and staff!
